Explanation of Rights
The following is an Explanation of Rights that are sold with packages.
GIVEAWAY RIGHTS
- are typically in the form of Special Reports
- not usually allowed to be sold as a separate item
- can usually be included as a bonus with other products
- the products have an inherent value (which is often advertised) but you cannot charge for it
BASIC RESELL RIGHTS or LIMITED RESELL RIGHTS or just RESELL RIGHTS
- these rights supercede GIVEAWAY RIGHTS and you can pocket 100% of the profit
- the owner has the right to use the items personally as well as sell them directly to end users
- are products that are sold for the final inherent value of the product itself
- are typically not allowed to be given away, hence must usually be purchased by the end user
- typically the only documents that are available to the end user are a PDF file (or EXE Ebook) and licence file
- may include a website sales page and graphic images with the product
- the rights to sell the items are not to be passed on to other marketers
MASTER RESELL RIGHTS
- these rights supercede BASIC RESELL RIGHTS and you can pocket 100% of the profits
- are products that can be sold to other internet marketers as well as the public
- may also include a PDF document or EXE Ebook, website sales page and graphic images
- does not include the source code or raw data
- the owner has the right to use the items personally as well as sell them directly to end users
There are also two categories of Master Resell Rights:
i) RESTRICTED MASTER RESELL RIGHTS
- the original Author may have placed restrictions on the way the products are to be sold
- for instance, the product may only ever be sold as a standalone item, or for a minimum price, or not at auction sites, etc.
ii) UNRESTRICTED MASTER RESELL RIGHTS
- the products can be sold without any form of restriction
- for example, the product may be given away or sold at any price deemed acceptable, packaged with other products, or included as bonus items
PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS
- these rights supercede MASTER RESELL RIGHTS and you can pocket 100% of the profits
- are products that can be sold to other people with any form of rights that you wish to impose, so long as you don't attempt to supercede the rights you received with the product itself
- copyright still belongs to the original author of the document
- the owner of the products cannot claim copyright to the document
- significant changes to the document to make it "unrecognisable" from the original means that you can claim copyright to the product
- typically includes the source data or Word Document or Source Code (for programs), a PDF document or EXE Ebook, website sales page and graphic images
- the owner has the right to use the items personally as well as sell them directly to end users
- in addition, the source code is available to the owner and may be split up to use in other products or service, as long as there are no other restrictions on the product
- for example, a word or text document may be available that you can split up into an autoresponder series, or combined with other documents into a new ebook
There are also two categories of Private Label Rights:
i) RESTRICTED PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS
- the source code may NOT be passed on to other marketers
- there may be other restrictions placed on the product by the seller
- the original Author may have placed restrictions on the way the products are to be sold
- for instance, the product may only ever be sold as a standalone item, or for a minimum price, or not at auction sites, etc.
ii) UNRESTRICTED PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS
- the source code may be passed on to other marketers
- the products can be sold without any form of restriction
- for example, the product may be given away or sold at any price deemed acceptable, packaged with other products, or included as bonus items
